Do you want to look at ways of making your service/company or club more inclusive for children and young people with Additional Support Needs? Then come along to this free training session.
This event is for people or groups providing leisure activities to children and young people (eg sports clubs, social groups, creative arts organisation).
The training is being led by Edinburgh’s Disability Strategic Group which is made up of professionals from social work, health, education, Life Long Learning’s Sports and Outdoor Learning Unit and third sector organisations.

Time: 9.45am for 10am start – 2.30pm
Where: Bangholm Outdoor Centre/Trinity Academy PE Facility, Craighall Gardens, Edinburgh EH6 4RJ Some car parking available, plenty of free on street parking as well access to Edinburgh cycle routes and buses. Tea and coffee provided – please bring your own mug and lunch.
Key Objectives: Develop understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions – Increase confidence in staff delivering inclusive activities – Develop a practical toolkit to draw on
Agenda:
Session 1: An introduction to neurodiversity Led by Mindroom.
Break
Session 2: Including someone new Led by Tailor Ed. Inclusion strategies and adaptations.
Lunch break
Session 3: Making sense of the different ways neurodivergent children express enjoyment and distress Led by CAMHS-ID. Understanding behaviour and strength based approaches.
Break
Session 4: Next steps. Practical session – participants will be supported to reflect on what they’ve learned and start building resources and plans of their own. There will be an opportunity to ask questions with the session finishing with signposting to further resources and where to learn more.
