Chrysalis 2017, our platform for ambitious performance by young theatre-makers, took place at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, from Friday 17 – Sunday 19 November 2017. The third year of the festival, Chrysalis 2017 showcased emerging talent, sparked critical debate and challenged perceptions of youth theatre.

2017’s line-up included four main performances from Contact Young Company (Manchester), Beacon Young Company (Inverclyde), Firefly Arts (West Lothian) and Reading Rep (Berkshire), plus workshops, a Managers’ Forum, talks, and special events.

The Chrysalis festival is a platform for ambitious performance by young theatre-makers and was created in 2015. It showcases emerging talent, sparks critical debate and challenges perceptions of youth theatre. The festival is the only platform of its kind in Scotland and it offers a new experience for audiences new to youth theatre arts. “Dark Mechanics” is being performed at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, on Sat 18 November 2017, 7pm and Sun 19 November 2017, 3:30pm
