Drop in to this free session to have a go with shadow puppets and meet the team behind new Moray community theatre project, Between the Mountains and the Sea.

Between the Mountains and the Sea is an ambitious project, co-creating a large scale outdoor visual theatre production of a brand new folktale in partnership with Moray communities alongside professional local and international artists, cultural organisations and theatre makers.

Chapter One of Between the Mountains and the Sea saw professional artists and community participants collaborating to create a new Moray folktale. The story, To Build a Ship, set in the Moray landscape, tells the epic and fantastical tale of how, by bringing communities together, we can create something beautiful and extraordinary.

They are looking for community groups and individuals to take part in the second phase of this exciting project, where they will develop the story uncovered in Chapter One into a shadow play to be performed as part of a winter shindig in February 2025, complete with live music, puppetry and performance.

They welcome people of all ages to get involved as puppeteers, choir members, costume and décor team and event support. You can be as involved as little or as much as you like, there’s an opportunity for everyone to take part. Weekly rehearsals will take place from January 2025; there are no auditions and everyone is welcome.
