Join Children and Young People’s Commissioner Nicola Killean and children across Scotland to celebrate children’s human rights on UN International Day of Play on Wed 11 June 2025.
This assembly – with BSL interpretation – will be hosted by the Commissioner Nicola and a Young Advisor. At this fun and interactive session, children will:
- Focus on the right to play and why it’s so important
- Share views on play that will inform our international work on rights to physical health
- Enjoy a draw-along session with a talented illustrator to create their own Rights Rabbit
The Children and Young People’s Commissioner promotes and protects children’s rights in Scotland. This assembly, with e-learning platform e-Sgoil, is the third in a series with Nicola during this school year and follows one on World Children’s Day on 20 November, and another on International Day of Happiness on 20 March.
Last summer, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child became part of our law in Scotland. This assembly will help children understand more about their rights in an accessible and age-appropriate way. This is important as knowing their rights helps children claim them.
So please join them live for a 30minute assembly at 9.30am on Wednesday, 11 June to celebrate children’s right to play, rest and leisure.
No need to sign up in advance, just add the link to your calendar and join them on the day.
