Spotlight on the Sector - Mahri Reilly

We are pleased to share the second episode of Spotlight on the Sector with Mahri Reilly from Scottish Youth Theatre in Glasgow who talks about the risks and rewards of sudden organisational change and the importance of little acts of kindness.

Spotlight on the Sector is a series of short podcasts where we interview youth theatre leaders in Scotland as they respond and reflect on the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact it has made to their work.

Future episodes will include Matthew Swan (Regal Young Company, West Lothian) and Lisa Keenan (Tron Theatre, Glasgow).

Our long-term supporters Heughan’s Heughligans have kicked off their annual fundraising drive for YTAS in style, as they mark the 46th birthday of our Patron, Outlander star Sam Heughan. This is now the 13th annual #Dram4Sam arranged by our friends the Heughligans. This year, all of the ‘drams’ raised will go towards supporting the delivery of the National Festival of Youth Theatre in July.
Our membership scheme has always been central to our role as the development body for Scotland’s youth theatre sector, but it hasn’t undergone a major update in more than a decade. This means the structure reflects the needs of a sector from ten years ago – not the one we have today. For 2026, YTAS are refreshing our membership scheme to make it a better fit for today’s sector.
