Calling all youth theatre practitioners, artists, and organisations! 📢
Do you bring new work, events, productions, or creative development to life? Of course you do!
Fancy matching your crowdfunding donations pound for pound, up to £10,000 per project? Of course you would! Read on to find out how…
Creative Scotland: Crowdmatch, delivered in partnership with Crowdfunder, is open for applications until Wednesday 30 September 2026 at 11pm. It’s open to individual artists and freelancers aged 18+, constituted arts organisations, collectives, and creative businesses based in Scotland, so there’s real flexibility in who can apply.
With the deadline under two months away, now’s a good time for youth theatre groups thinking about a production, tour, equipment upgrade, or outreach project to start planning.
Do you have a campaign up your sleeve that you think would benefit, but need some real-world examples of just how far that funding can stretch? Take a look at these recent Crowdmatch-backed projects and see if they trigger some ideas…
- The team behind the short film The Girl Who Cried Wolf raised £22,000 from 144 supporters, with Creative Scotland doubling every donation up to £250 per person (£9,000 in match funding). The film is a cinematic short inspired by George Monbiot’s Feral, starring Sophia Di Martino (Marvel’s Loki), shooting in the Scottish Highlands and partnering with youth organisations to bring young people into the production.Â
- Aberdeen’s very own North Atlantic Fiddle Convention raised over £10,200 from 94 supporters, backed by £3,750 in Crowdmatch funding, to help deliver its 25th anniversary festival in June 2026: a week of concerts, ceilidhs, workshops, and free community events celebrating fiddle and dance traditions from Scotland to Scandinavia to Canada.Â
- YDance’s NYDCS Foundations programme raised £5,230 from 52 supporters, plus £2,000 in Crowdmatch funding, to close a funding shortfall and deliver free dance training for young people in Aberdeen and Greenock who otherwise couldn’t access it. 96% of participants in YDance’s programmes report increased confidence as a result.
Each of these shows a different way Crowdmatch can work, whether it’s for a first-time filmmaker, a long-running festival, or a national youth arts organisation. Each of these projects brilliantly combined public donations with match funding to reach a goal that would have been much harder to hit alone.
So, now’s the time to unleash the fundraising power of your audience, and get it matched pound for pound. Check out the full details and eligibility at over on our Creative Scotland: Crowdmatch page within the Opportunities section, and happy fundraising!
