BEAUTIFUL FOOLS Level 1 – A Clown and Play Workshop Series

Venue: SHIITAKE HQ, Glasgow, G40 1DA
Prices: £200 – £300 + booking fee

Following the success of the SILLY BITCH/PLAY MY WAY introduction to clown and play workshops, and the first edition of BEAUTIFUL FOOLS, SOMEWHERE BETWEEN invites you to a new and innovative clown workshop series.

Taking place over six weeks of Wednesday nights, 6pm – 8pm, on 4 February – 11 March 2026, this exclusive series of two hour evening workshops aims to provide a safe and nurturing place to delve deeper into your learning, allowing you to discover more about your own unique clown practice. Offering a journey of playful self-discovery alongside professional performance development, BEAUTIFUL FOOLS is a one of kind opportunity to see how you can be both a powerful human and a beautiful idiot, on and off stage.

This series is suitable for those who want to understand what makes them uniquely ridiculous. From actors to improvisers, performers or not, clowning and playful practice can help participants learn to follow their intuition, shed societal expectations, joyfully accept failure and find more freedom.

Once you have completed Level 1, you will be able to attend Level 2, the next step of the BEAUTIFUL FOOLS journey.

Taught by Scottish Gaulier-trained performer, director and clown Izzy Stott, this workshop series will help you discover your own innocent idiocy through a series of games, exercises and the weekly opportunity to play, flop, fail and save the show.

Izzy Stott is an award-winning Scottish performer, theatre maker and singer. Having trained in contemporary performance, physical theatre and clown, Izzy works as a solo artist, is the creator of YOLK and the artistic director of Glasgow based production company, SOMEWHERE BETWEEN. She co-produces the southside’s monthly absurd cabaret, SHIITAKE NIGHTS.

SOMEWHERE BETWEEN is a creative production company based in Glasgow, working with new, innovative theatre and absurd comedy. They create, produce, facilitate, host and teach.
