This event is for youth work practitioners (paid and voluntary) who want an introductory overview to children’s rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in a Scottish context.
A revised 90-minute training developed in partnership by YouthLink Scotland and Education Scotland, this session is an introduction to children’s rights for youth workers in Scotland.
Participants will gain:
• Understanding of the definition of children’s rights
• Understanding the basics of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
• Understanding of the links to youth work and CLD practice
This session will be held on Microsoft Teams and will include a short comfort break. It is interactive so we recommend participants have microphone and camera access to get the most out of the session.
As per feedback, we have added an optional Q&A session at the end of the session. This is an opportunity to ask trainers questions on children’s rights and the UNCRC.
Dates for new Level 2 sessions are available in September and October.
Participating in this session can be recorded as 1.5 hours of Professional Learning time, which can contribute to the 35 hours per year (pro rata) required for membership of the CLD Standards Council, another professional body, or your own learning and development plan.
When recording your professional learning you may want to reflect on your development from this event in relation to the relevant CLD Competences and CLD Ethics.
