Cove Park and Business of Broadway in association with Capital Theatres

Commercial Theatre Producing Seminar

Venue: Peaton Hill, Cove, Helensburgh, G84 0PE
Prices: £35 – £175

Cove Park and Business of Broadway, in association with Capital Theatres, are pleased to launch a one-day Commercial Theatre Producing Seminar, open to theatre producers and practitioners based in the UK and Ireland. This event takes place Tue 14 January 2025 at Cove Park (in Argyll & Bute), located about 70 min from Glasgow and accessible by public transport.

This professional development opportunity is intended for early and mid-career theatre producers who are seeking to learn more about commercial theatre producing in New York City and beyond. Others who work in the theatre industry, including but not limited to general management, company management, marketing, development, or in creative roles such as direction and design, are also welcome to enrol in the open Seminar.

Developed from the new Creative Producer Residency, this open day seminar reflects their aims to address gaps in the sector and provide more unique professional development opportunities for creative practitioners.

What to expect

10am-12.30pm: Commercial Theatre Producing 101
The goal of this session is to demystify the process of creating and producing a Broadway show, and to offer insight into the world of theatrical producing at large. We examine how a show is produced, exploring the timeline of a show’s creative development from ideation to production as well as the underlying financial model that fuels that process.

12.30-2pm: Lunch for attendees and tour of Cove Park’s 50-acre site (weather permitting)

2-3pm: Fundraising in the United States
This session includes an overview of Securities law, including the role of accredited investors, a discussion about the state of fundraising in the United States and the government’s role in funding (tax credits and grants). The Business of Broadway team will also share sample pitch decks from recent Broadway shows.

3-4pm: panel discussion and open forum for questions

4-5.30pm: Networking and Refreshments

Registration Fee

They are pleased to offer a range of ticket prices from £35 – £175 depending on organisational income to ensure this event is open to as many people as possible.
