Company Rehearsal: Musical Theatre Course

Venue: 100 Renfrew Street, Glasgow, G2 3DB
Prices: £230

Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Company Rehearsal course focuses on the study and presentation of a musical or company scenes as a rehearsed performance, facilitated by an experienced Director, Choreographer and Musical Director. It provides an opportunity for people age 16+ with some previous experience to work towards a sharing in a workshop setting.

Throughout the ten-week course, students will explore and workshop the musicals of composer Stephen Schwartz, whose work includes Pippin, Godspell, The Baker’s Wife and Wicked. The course provides the opportunity for participants to develop their rehearsal and performance experience. Students will work collaboratively on all elements central to the creation of a musical theatre production, with consideration of the specific context of the work.

The course is practical and aims to challenge participants both technically and creatively. The rehearsal process will be similar to what you would experience in a professional rehearsal room. It will involve a supportive and collaborative process and you will be expected to contribute ideas and work as an ensemble. The presentation will consist of excerpts from the musical. You will be expected to rehearse at home between classes to ensure a dynamic and engaging performance.

Through doing this course students will have:

  • strengthened their acting, singing and dance skills through rehearsals and workshops based on a musical.
  • worked collaboratively with a professional creative team including a Director, Musical Director and Choreographer.
  • performed in an engaging and dynamic workshop presentation to invited guests.

There are no entry requirements for this open access course but to get the most out of it you should have some experience of performance and a practical understanding of theatre and performance skills.

Regular attendance on this course is particularly important as you will be working towards an ensemble performance.
