Creative Carbon Scotland is working with Eden Court and NatureScot to bring a local assembly for creative climate action to Inverness on Thu 27 April 2023.
SPRINGBOARD local assemblies connect people and organisations working on culture and climate change from the same region so they can learn together, share knowledge and information and collaborate. Local assemblies are part of Creative Carbon Scotland’s wider SPRINGBOARD project and are for anyone working or volunteering in the arts, screen, creative industries, museums, heritage, libraries or climate change fields.
For this event in Inverness, they are particularly keen to welcome anyone working or living in coastal areas, working on or concerned with the sea or marine environments. They are working with NatureScot’s Marine Ecosystems team to lead practical workshops, ending the afternoon with a discussion about how people want to work in future, and time to do some networking over drinks.
Thu 27 April 2023, 1.45pm – 6.30pm
The outline programme is:
1.45pm – Arrival
2pm-2.10pm – Welcome
2.10pm-3.30pm – Arts and environmental collaboration on climate change, in collaboration with NatureScot
Collaboration between the arts and environmental sectors can create diverse opportunities for more effective action on climate change. This session will be delivered in partnership with NatureScot and will explore the ways that these fields can benefit from collaboration, offer examples of what has been achieved in the past and explore the practical steps needed to make collaborative projects a success. The session will end with an opportunity to consider what a collaborative climate change project would look like for you.
3.30pm-3.45pm – Break with tea and coffee
3.45pm-4.45pm – Climate justice and arts & culture
Climate justice is a way of understanding how climate change results from and exacerbates existing inequalities and injustices as well as how climate action can help create a fairer world. This workshop will share our research into how issues of climate justice play out here in Scotland and how collaboration with the arts and culture sector can be effective for work on achieving climate justice.
4.45pm-5.30pm – Round-up discussion & next steps
5.30pm – Networking drinks
