Creative Workshop on Arts Management Education

Venue: Bishops Rd, Inverness, IV3 5SA
Prices: Free

Join Caitlin McKinnon on 4 September 2024, 1pm – 3pm, at Eden Court Inverness for an insightful Creative Workshop on Arts Management Education in Scotland.

This Creative Workshop, led by Caitlin McKinnon, a PhD Candidate at Queen Margaret University and the University of Stirling, is part of a research project titled “Exploring Arts Management Education: Discursive Structures, Isomorphic Pressures, and the Standardisation of Arts Management,” which aims to delve into the teaching and practice of arts management in Scotland.

The project seeks to better understand how arts management is taught and learned here in Scotland, while considering the possible tensions of professionalisation and standardisation within arts management practice. This includes seeking to understand the extent and level of provision of Arts Management courses available in Scotland, including their content and prevalent discourses, and how they have evolved, as well as the informal ways in which arts managers develop their skills and grow their careers.

What to expect:
This workshop is designed for individuals working in the administration, management, or development of arts or cultural projects or organisations, broadly referred to as “Arts Managers.” In the workshop, participants will create zines (a homemade publication that can include poetry, narratives, drawings, and more) to explore various topics around arts management.

As this workshop is part of Caitlin’s research, discussion and recorded conversations will be part of the workshop. This will be done with consent from participants. Information on the research, your participation, confidentiality, and how your contributions will be reported can be found on the event registration page.
