How to Talk to a Techie

Venue: 22 Potterrow, Edinburgh, EH8 9BL
Prices: Free

If you aren’t confident when trying to describe technical effects, come along to this beginner’s session on Wed 6 November 2024 at Capital Theatres’ Studio.

Don’t know your gobos from your gaffer tape? Join them for this session with their Studio Technician, Cormac Ó Callanáin. He’ll show you how different effects can be achieved, the equipment you might come across in a studio theatre, and how to describe what you’re looking for so a technician can make it happen.

Cormac Ó Callanáin has been the Studio Technician at Capital Theatres for the last two years, overseeing the technical requirements for every production, residency and scratch performance hosted in the space since September 2022. He has been a member of the wider Capital Theatres technical team for the last 12 years.

This session is offered as part of Open@TheStudio, Capital Theatres’ artist support programme.

Wednesday 6 November 2024, 6pm – 7.30pm
The Studio, Edinburgh
