The National Theatre Connections Festival is looking for YOU… th theatres in Scotland!
You’ve probably heard about it, maybe you’ve even taken part… but this year the National Theatre Connections team are reaching out to YTAS members to get involved in their upcoming festival.
Every year, Connections commissions new plays for young people to perform. The programme brings together some of the UK’s most exciting writers with the theatre-makers of tomorrow. In 2021-2022, they worked with 260 youth companies and over 8,000 young people from every corner of the UK.
Connections is open to any company of young people aged 13-19. You can be a school, a youth theatre or voluntary organisation. You can have lots of experience staging plays or none at all. Whoever you are, your group can apply to be part of Connections.
Youth Theatre Arts Scotland will be hosting the Connections team for a virtual lunchtime info session on Wednesday 7 June for a chance for you to ask questions and hear more about the application process, the plays and the festival overall. We will also hear from one of 2023’s host venues and a Scottish youth theatre leader who took part in the 2023 festival.
If you’re thinking of applying, this is your chance to get the insider scoop. If you’re not sure or are looking for more information, this is your chance to get information directly from the team before applications for the 2023 season close on Monday 10 July.
