Introduction to Clowning with Dan Collins

Venue: Argyle Studios, 43 Argyle Place, Edinburgh, EH9 1JT
Prices: £80

Are you tired of being taken seriously?
Do you want to make a fool of yourself?
Can you think of a third thing?

Welcome to the Easy Clown School; a new workshop series exploring the weird and wonderful world of clowning.

In these weekly sessions they’ll be discussing the history and variety of clowning as well as playing mindless games to rekindle the childish instinct for fun. Standing on the shoulders of giant clowns, they’ll look at different approaches to the art of clowning and put theory into practice in our rehearsal space.

Learn to develop rapport with your audience and win them over with failure. Communicate openly and honestly; infuse your performance with sincerity and get big laughs along the way. Be bold, confident and utterly ridiculous; engage with peers in a supportive learning environment and develop your own clown persona. Everyone is welcome to take part.

At the end of the term we’ll be hosting a free showcase so you can embarrass yourself in front of everyone one more time!

Their aim is for students to come away feeling like a confident and very, very stupid clown. Whether you are new to the world of clowning or you are an experienced performer, this short course offers the opportunity to play, practice and grow in a supportive and inclusive environment.

DATES: Sat 28 September – Sat 30 November 2024 (no session on Sat 19 October and Sat 30 November is a free showcase day)
TIMES: 11am – 1pm
PRICE: Drop In Price: £12 / Full Course Membership £80 (£10 per week)
