Calling all teachers, lecturers, workshop leaders, tutors, teaching artists and facilitators working in the arts. Fancy meeting up to think about what makes a brilliant arts educator?
Free Online Arts Educator CPD Session – Is It Good? Approaches to Assessment
7 April 2026, 10am-11am or 7pm-8pm
A learner holds up a drawing, shares a dance phrase, a half-formed idea and asks the question that lands right in the centre of our practice: “Is it good?”.
In that moment, they’re not just asking for a grade or a judgement. They’re asking:
• Do you see me?
• Does this have value?
• Am I on the right track?
• Is what I’m trying to say coming through?
And we, as arts educators, feel the weight of that. Because “Is it good?” is never a simple question in the arts. It opens the door to everything we believe about creativity, learning, culture, and what art is for.
Royal Conservatoire of Scotland would love for you to bring a coffee along to the next in their regular online discovery sessions where they come together to shoot the breeze about all things to do with arts education. There’s no need for any prep as the sessions are led by members of the PGLT team who will set a theme to start off the conversation. You can choose to join in or just listen in.
They’ll also share a little information about how the part-time PGLT programmes help us to think more deeply about the changes in arts education that we’d love to see happen.
So, if you’re interested in sharing your thinking with other passionate arts educators, they’d love you to join us.
All sessions in the series run twice, one in the morning and one in the evening (there is no need to be present for both). You can sign-up at the MEd in Learning and Teaching in the Arts webpage https://www.rcs.ac.uk/courses/med-learning-teaching/
