Light the Blue: Emerge Artist Development Event

A day of networking, conversations, workshops and performances focused on connecting, supporting and inspiring early career creatives aged 18-30 from Aberdeen & the North-East. You might be a theatre maker, actor, writer, director, producer, performance artist, designer, musician, storyteller, dancer or something else. If you see yourself creating live performance in some way, this event is for you.

Throughout the day on Sun 9 June 2024 there will be a range of activities on offer and the opportunity to meet with local and national organisations such as National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Youth Theatre, Aberdeen Arts Centre, Youth Theatre Arts Scotland and Ten Feet Tall Theatre Company. These include:

  • Networking sessions (connecting early career artists with their peers as well as more experienced creatives)
  • Panel discussions with industry guests
  • Creative and practical workshops on a broad range of focuses
  • Industry advice and 1 to 1 mentoring sessions
  • New writing and scratch sharings

The day will also feature performances from emerging and mid-career Scottish artists including The Fastest Town in Scotland by Morna Ross and The Boulders We Carry by Imogen Stirling. Taking place at lunchtime and at the end of the event respectively, attendance to performances is optional with a special discount for EMERGE attendees.

Light The Blue 2024

A multi-artform festival created for young people, by young people. Taking place this June across various city venues, Light the Blue is an electrifying line up of theatre, dance, music, film, circus and more. The festival features a series of collaborations with organisations from around Scotland and beyond including Scottish Youth Theatre, Imaginate, Big Noise Torry and many more, with young performers rubbing shoulders with professional artists in a true celebration of the performing arts.
