Throughout this workshop, you will be guided to explore the principles of field recording and techniques required for creating immersive soundscapes within a framework that investigates acoustic ecology and deep listening. This workshop will help you bridge the gap between perceiving, capturing, and reconstructing soundscapes.

Perfect for enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, this one-day workshop invites you to understand the processes involved in capturing and representing soundscapes for research and artistic purposes whilst developing your auditory perspectives and connection to the world around you.

This workshop is tailored for those who are interested in broadening their horizons within research or the sonic arts, gaining hands-on experience with understanding how audio plays an important role in the experience of the world around us.

Course Aims
– Inform participants about the approach to field recording for research or artistic purposes.
– Encourage the development of personal perspectives on auditory sensory stimulation and connect with nature.
– Offer a unique perspective in the field of audio with practical workshops contextualised with philosophical thought in the experience of deep listening.
– Teach the fundamentals of audio recording utilising various microphones and develop an understanding of sound editing using computers.

Intended Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
– Utilise audio recording equipment to capture various sources.
– Apply philosophical thought concerning deep listening in applied practice within the sonic arts.
– Compose a soundscape from various captured audio to create a sensorial experience.
