Networking for the Anxious is a practical skill building workshop led by theatre maker, Ross Mackay, and psychologist and hypnotherapist, Alan Freeburn. This workshop is open to all artists and freelancers based in Scotland who are involved in the young audiences sector, or interested in making work for young audiences.
Date: 10.30am – 1pm, Fri 28 April 2023
Venue: Lyceum Theatre, 30b Grindlay St, Edinburgh EH3 9AX
Networking can often invoke feelings of anxiety and imposter syndrome. However, it is often an essential way that freelancers find work and make connections within the theatre sector. In this workshop they will explore practical ways to reduce anxiety around networking events.
During the workshop they will:
– Explore how anxiety can manifest itself and examine ways we might begin to bring those sensations under control.
– Explore ways we can build confidence going into, during and after networking events.
– Create a shared resource of tips and tricks to reduce anxiety while networking.
– Explore suggestions we might have to create less anxiety inducing networking formats.
This will be a relaxed roundtable event and they will gently encourage discussion, but you are welcome to participate and engage to whatever level you feel comfortable with.
