This workshop explores artist Samual Jameson’s experience using role-play and character creation in an early years setting. Samuel Jameson is a performer working in theatre for early years audiences and families. Since lockdown, Samuel has also been working in a nursery as an early years assistant.
In this workshop, Samuel will share their positive experience of transferring creative freelance skills to a learning environment; namely role-playing alongside learners and creating characters out of child-led play. The session will cover how to apply performance skills to aid and encourage learners to develop their social and emotional awareness, wellbeing and friendships. This workshop is on Thu 16 March 2023, 6pm-8pm at WHALE Arts Agency 30 Westburn Grove Edinburgh EH14 2SA.
Samuel is currently working as a freelance performer and an early years assistant and has performed and toured internationally in many early years shows, including with Starcatchers, Frozen Charlotte and Ailie Cohen.
This event is funded by Playspace, Starcatchers’ artist development programme for artists who are interested in working with or developing work for babies and young children.
