Self-Producing Workshop

A free three hour workshop for early career artists on how to produce their own work covering finance, scheduling and working with people.

Tortoise in a Nutshell are a charity with over 15 years of producing experience. They began making and producing all of their own work out of necessity and have now developed a wealth of experience to help others who are just starting out.

This self-producing workshop is designed for early career artists who are making and producing their own work. It is aimed at giving information, techniques and guidance on how to navigate a continuously changing funding climate with support in finance, scheduling and working with people.

The workshop will cover:

Finance
• Funding applications
• Budgets
• Rates of Pay

Schedules
• Contracts
• Timelines & Timescales

People
• Equalities
• Access
• Project partnerships
• Stakeholders

It will aim to make the Scottish Government and Creative Scotland pillars of working accessible and understandable. There will be allocated time for specific, tailored support, questions and discussions.

Whilst they are a visual theatre company this opportunity is open to those from all art forms and they will endeavour to tailor our experiences to support you in the best way possible.

This is a free workshop, with limited spaces, which is designed for those starting out in their career in the arts.

If you have any access requirements please get in touch. There is a small pot of funding available to ensure that the workshop is open to all who would benefit from it, this includes some support for travel costs if needed.
