Playspace is Starcatchers’ artist development programme, supporting artists to explore their practice and push the boundaries of what arts for the very young can be. Playspace is open to artists across all artforms at all stages of their careers – from those interested in learning more about working with this age group to those who are experienced and want to develop their practice.
They are delighted to present this workshop with the creators of Club Origami, exploring how they made this work. Club Origami is a beautiful magical immersive and interactive dance performances for young audiences.
The workshop
Takeshi Matsumoto and Makiko Aoyama will lead a practical workshop offering creative and choreographic insights into Club Origami, a dance performance for under six years old and their families commissioned and produced by Little Big Dance. Club Origami uses no words, dance improvisation and children’s origami works to take the audience members to a journey that is filled with lots of paper. The creatives and dance performers, Makiko and Takeshi will facilitate the space for moving, listening, dancing, observing and discussion, inspired by Origami, a Japanese art of folding paper and performance making for children and young people. Please wear comfortable clothes. No formal dance training required.
