Strange Town

Friday Youth Theatre & Film Classes for ages 5-18

Venue: Broughton St Mary’s Church, Bellevue Crescent, Edinburgh, EH3 6NE
Prices: £70 – £120 (free & discounted places available)

Strange Town offers opportunities in the performing arts to young people aged 5 to 25 in Edinburgh.

As a company, the aim at Strange Town is to enable young people to fulfil their creative potential. Whatever your background or experience, they believe everyone has creative and artistic abilities. They help young people to recognise and develop these abilities through peer and professional encouragement, participation and example.

There are a few spaces remaining in their Friday Skills classes for the upcoming September – December 2024 term:

– Friday 5-7s Intro to Drama, 2pm – 3pm
The 5-7s drama group is the perfect introduction to the world of drama, with a focus on games and skills rather than performance at this young age.

– Friday 8-12s Theatre Skills, 3pm – 4.30pm
The 8-12 Skills group is focused on developing confidence, playing drama games and learning drama techniques. A great group for those nervous about performing in front of an audience or joining the world of drama for the very first time.

– Friday 11-14s Film Skills, 4.30pm – 6.30pm (New this term)
– Friday 14-18s Film Skills, 4.30pm – 6.30pm
The Film group has now been split into two simultaneous classes for 11-14s and 14-18s. You will learn how to shoot and edit your own films, as well as how to act for screen. These classes are suitable for both those who wish to be on-camera and those who wish to direct, edit or write behind the scenes.

To book your child a space, please email james@strangetown.org.uk for a sign-up link.
