An immersive, theatre-based professional development workshop designed to build confidence, communication and presentation skills. Presenting yourself can come in various ways, such as how you show up to a work space, a meeting, a presentation pitch, networking event and even an interview.

In this workshop, participants will route themselves in acting techniques used by Sir Laurence Olivier and Dame Judi Dench as well as exploring presentation styles through scripts seen live on our stage. You will learn how best to present yourself for various scenarios and how to feel confident doing so. This workshop will show you how you can transfer this learning to your own working environment.

This workshop is designed for people who are nervous around presenting themselves and want to build confidence presenting in the workspace. This is for businesses who are looking for a fresh, engaging approach to professional development, this is an opportunity to equip your team with skills they can apply immediately.

9.30am – 10am – Networking in our Little Picardy bar with tea, coffee and pastries
10am – 11.45am – Part 1: Presentation styles and techniques
11.45am – 12 noon – Break
12 noon – 1.30pm – Part 2: Putting your learning into practice including analysis and feedback

Course Leader:
Katie Mitchell is a producer, director and drama artist working within the theatre industry for over 10 years. Katie has worked for renowned Scottish theatre companies such as Perth Theatre and Concert Hall, Strange Town Theatre, Macrobert Arts Centre and the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh. At the core of her work, she aims to empower participants and to instil confidence in their work and their voices.

Katie was awarded the Federation of Scottish Theatre’s Producer Bursary in 2020 which saw her work nominated for a UK Stage Award the following year. Katie now currently works as Edinburgh Playhouse’s Producer for ATG Inspire programme. This is a brand new area of work for the Playhouse with the aims of directly serving the needs of the local community of Edinburgh and beyond. During her short time at the Playhouse her work has been nominated for the Edinburgh Creative Awards, The Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Awards, as well as the UK Stage Awards.
