Organised by National Youth Arts Advisory Group (NYAAG) – Creative Scotland’s Youth Advisory Board – UNCON is a celebration of youth arts that spotlights young creatives and artists.
UNCON is an event designed by young people, for young people, that showcases and celebrates youth arts and creativity in Scotland. Held every two years since 2016, this year for the first time UNCON is hosted in Inverness and Edinburgh (Edinburgh link) simultaneously to make it more accessible and to link young local creatives together.
The Inverness Launch Event will be held at the Creative Academy on Sat 4 February 2023 and will run from 1pm until 8pm. This is a come-and-go event, so feel free to attend in part or in full.
Tickets are free.
This event is being produced by young people in the arts and is a first for the area. UNCON is an exciting opportunity to celebrate young talent in Highland arts and to network with other young artists in the area. As part of the event, young people are encouraged to bring examples of their art, including:
- recordings of performances and music
- actual artworks to sell and promote
- prepared or scrathch performances for live showing
- and musical instruments for live informal sessions
Please note that submissions should fit the informal style of the event – large scale performance and artworks are beyond the scope of the UNCON launch event.
Throughout the event, we will be hosting discussion tables where attendees can propose topics for conversation. Come prepared with topics or see what comes up during the day. These topics can be:
- questions about particular art forms
- questions about pathways into the industry
- call-outs for artists to collaborate with on projects
A full programme of events will be available on Fri 3 February 2023.
Food
Some catering will be provided between 4pm – 6pm. They are offering cold snacks and sandwiches and will be offering vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free food. Please contact the event organiser if you have any allergies.
