Fundamentals:ONLINE is a series of online webinars for all young theatre-makers looking to upskill and learn more about the practical ‘business of theatre’ from a host of industry professionals. The webinars are intended for young theatre-makers, aged 18-28, living in Scotland.

Whether you are looking to lay the groundwork and grow your understanding of how to establish a career in the arts or gain some valuable insights from people who have already done so, these webinars will explore key areas important to any emerging artist creating grassroots theatre and trying to make their way. Sessions will cover the following topics:

• Producing for You: Getting Things Off the Ground with David Hewitson – Wed 30 September 2026
• Finding the Finances: Where and How to Approach Funding with Conner Milliken – Wed 14 October 2026
• Marketing & Audiences: Not What You Sell but How You Sell It with Shelley Middler – Wed 4 November 2026

Perhaps you’ve got the embers of an idea and you’re trying to balance the risk, expectations and excitement that come with putting on your first show. Or perhaps you’re ready to take the next steps with a project but need a little guidance on the best approach. Fundamentals:ONLINE is there to expand your knowledge about the industry and help turn your passion into your profession.

The series will take place from 7pm – 8pm on Wednesday evenings and will be hosted on Zoom. Each session is scheduled to last approximately one hour, including Q&A time to ask any burning questions you may have.

To sign up for a session, navigate to the ‘Ticket’ section of this Eventbrite page and select ‘1 ticket’ next to the date and title of the webinar you would like to attend. Tickets for each session will be a staggered release throughout the series. Once booked, you will then be sent a Zoom link and instructions on how to access the webinar.

These webinars may be recorded for internal evaluation processes but won’t be broadcast or shared online for public consumption.
