You’ve done the hard part. You’ve got the funding, the room, the people. How do you make these resources really work for you across a five-day research and development process?
This half-day workshop is for artists who are planning or preparing a funded R&D period. You’ll cover how to make the most of your time, create space for discovery and end the week with a clear sense of the next steps for your project.
Led by playwright and director Eve Nicol, this session is practical, direct and informed by experience of leading R&Ds across Scotland’s major producing theatres, independently and on behalf of organisations, with established voices and emerging ones. Eve’s R&Ds have led to shows on international stages and others that never saw the light of day. All have informed the tools, techniques and quick wins to be shared in this workshop.
What they’ll cover:
- Structuring a five day R&D so each moment has purpose
- Materials to gather to power up your project
- Leaving room for discovery without losing direction
- Setting expectations with collaborators
- Framing sharings and getting feedback
- The ongoing journey of your project
There will be room for questions, conversation and knowledge-sharing. Participants should come with a clear idea or project they are working on.
