Pitching its marquee in Rozelle Park, Ayr, for the fourth festival in a row, the National Festival of Youth Theatre (otherwise known as #NFYT2024) will be a fun-packed weekend of performances, workshops, making new pals, and inspirational experiences for our young participants. Join us from Friday 5 to Monday 8 July 2024 as we take over Rozelle Park and the beautiful Gaiety Theatre.
Full information and booking is available now. For an idea of what to expect, be sure to download our info packs below, and check out our previous NFYTs. Ask your own youth theatre group leader if you’d be interested in attending, as bookings can only be made as a group.
Group leaders… We’re hosting an info session to answer all your burning NFYT questions on Wednesday 6 December. Let us help you prepare for the event of the year and make sure you have all the information you need in order to book, whether you want your group to perform, attend without a show, or visit for one day.
Wednesday 6 December 2023: 12.30pm
The National Festival of Youth Theatre has always aimed to be an inclusive event, bringing together a wide range of youth theatre groups, participants and leaders to celebrate their shared passion. However, in recent years, we’ve received growing interest from youth groups who support young people that may experience barriers to attending the festival. We have been able to make adaptations to the festival to meet different access requirements, and in 2022 were able to introduce an Access Bursary for the first time.
This year we want to continue to put access and inclusion at the heart of our festival. We are delighted to be able to offer these Access Bursaries once again thanks to support from our funders, which will enable more disabled and disadvantaged youth theatre participants to experience the benefits of attending #NFYT2024.
Groups can apply for an NFYT Access Bursary to request support for access costs unique to their group, whether these are Financial Access Needs or Disability Access and Additional Support Needs.
Want to work with us at NFYT?
We’re recruiting for a Volunteer Coordinator for NFYT! This role offers you an opportunity to join Youth Theatre Arts Scotland (YTAS) in the delivery of the festival.
Line managed and supported by our Sector Development Manager, you will be working exclusively on the co-ordination of our ‘NFYT Amigos’ volunteer scheme, which offers 8-10 young people (aged 18+) the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in an arts environment. In addition to approximately 60 hours pre-event planning time, you will form part of the YTAS staff team in residence at NFYT in Ayr from 5-8 July 2024.
