Pitching its marquee in Rozelle Park, Ayr, for the fourth festival in a row, the National Festival of Youth Theatre (otherwise known as #NFYT2024) was a fun-packed weekend of performances, workshops, making new pals, and inspirational experiences for our young participants. Youth theatres from across Scotland and overseas joined us from Friday 5 to Monday 8 July 2024 as we took over Rozelle Park and the beautiful Gaiety Theatre.

Access Bursaries
The National Festival of Youth Theatre has always aimed to be an inclusive event, bringing together a wide range of youth theatre groups, participants and leaders to celebrate their shared passion. However, in recent years, we’ve received growing interest from youth groups who support young people that may experience barriers to attending the festival. We have been able to make adaptations to the festival to meet different access requirements, and in 2022 were able to introduce an Access Bursary for the first time.
For 2024, we wanted to continue to put access and inclusion at the heart of our festival. We were delighted to be able to offer these Access Bursaries once again thanks to support from our funders, which enabled more disabled and disadvantaged youth theatre participants to experience the benefits of attending #NFYT2024.
Groups could apply for an NFYT Access Bursary to request support for access costs unique to their group, whether these are Financial Access Needs or Disability Access and Additional Support Needs.
If you represent a funding or grant-making organisation and would like to discuss helping us to continue to offer bursaries for 2026, please get in touch. We’d be delighted to hear from you.
