It’s time to limber up and get ready to enter this summer’s hottest ballot! No, not Wimbledon or the London Marathon… Fringe Days Out, of course! We have opportunities for young people and practitioners alike, so read on to find out how to get involved.
Fringe Days Out: Youth Theatre Day Trips
YTAS have partnered with Fringe Days Out again this year to provide our members the opportunity to take their young people to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe – for free!
This year, YTAS members* can apply for one of five £100 vouchers to use on Fringe tickets with your youth theatre. Tickets are open to all members across Scotland and we are particularly interested in applications from groups who have not benefited from the programme before.
If you would like to apply, we’re giving you (almost) a full month’s notice! Vouchers will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis, and in June’s YTAS newsletter, we’ll be sharing the link to the form you’ll need to fill out to get your hands on one.
When you apply, you will need to know:
- The show you want to see
- How many young people you want to bring
Your homework between now and the next YTAS newsletter (hitting inboxes on Wednesday 18 June 2025) is to arrange your group! The form will ask you for details of what show you would like to see and the group you will be bringing, so you’ll need to have this information ready.
If you are successful in claiming one of the vouchers, we will ask for confirmation of your ticket booking to ensure the money has been used in full. If unspent, we will share the voucher with another group. At the end of summer, we will also ask you to complete a short evaluation form to share with the Fringe Days Out team.
Popular shows may sell out, so the sooner you make your booking with YTAS, the more likely you are to get all your tickets.

Fringe Days Out: Artist Trips
We haven’t forgotten about the leaders! We’re back again this year to take YOU, the artists, practitioners, leaders, assistants – to the Fringe!
We know that seeing theatre is such an important part of the creative process but that tickets are not always affordable. This year, YTAS wants to help you to see more shows.
There will be three occasions in August to join YTAS and ten other artists to see a show, have a drink, and chat about the work. These informal events are a great way to meet other artists and to see work that you might not have otherwise booked for yourself.
We’ll be heading to the Fringe on…
- Thursday 7 August (evening)
- Tuesday 12 August (lunchtime)
- Friday 15 August (afternoon)
We’ll be sharing the link to apply for this in June’s YTAS Newsletter too. You will be asked to select your preferred date and to let us know if you have any access needs. Travel bursaries and child-care support are available for anyone who needs it, and shows will be booked in July at times that allow for travel in and out of the city.
See you in August!
