Aberdeen City Council Creative Learning: Conker – Artists Call-Out

Conker – Play, Build, Grow is seeking imaginative and experienced artists to collaborate with the Torry Community in a new joyful initiative, empowering families to flex their creative muscles.

Conker will bring families together to play freely, build local skills, and grow creative healthy habits together. Reimagining indoor and outdoor community spaces in Torry into vibrant, creative hubs for play and connection.

Conker aims:
• Play: Community Engagement. Reducing isolation and building on the wellbeing, skills and confidence of care givers.
• Build: Community Training. This tailored volunteer skills programme will build confidence in local people completing the accredited training.
• Grow: Community Pop-Up Events. Celebrate and grow local creativity and empower community volunteers. Outdoor play inspiration for families 0-12 years, supported by a small group of local volunteers and partners.

Who
Are you an experienced creative blue sky thinker who can help bring Conker to life by co-designing and delivering engaging, inclusive creative learning experiences with young families and partners across Torry, Aberdeen?

They are seeking a team of imaginative, experienced, and resourceful freelance artists, practitioners, and collaborators across participatory practices, including and not limited to. (Visual Arts, Movement and Dance, Performance and Storytelling, Music). Conker requires artists, practitioners and collaborators to be comfortable working both outdoors and indoors.

You should have:
• Experience of delivering imaginative, flexible and joyful creative learning experiences with families and communities.
• Have a current PVG or willingness to join the scheme.
• A passion for developing inclusive, safe and inspiring environments with families and communities.
• The ability to contribute to the development of a sustainable Conker model.
• Desirable but not essential experience/understanding of delivering SQA accredited courses (For Build Volunteer training).

Key details
Location: Torry, Aberdeen
Timeline: Project delivery timescales Jan – Sept 2026
Fee: half day sessions, Lead Artists at £150 each, Support Artists at £75 inclusive of preparations/delivery.
They are unable to offer travel and subsistence expenses.

Projected outputs:
Play 30 half day sessions; Build 16 half day sessions; Grow six half day sessions.


Interviews will take place: Wed 10 and Thu 11 Dec 2025.
