Early Years Theatre: meeting with babies and art. A 3-Day Artist Lab in Edinburgh, with Barbara Małecka & Alicja Morawska-Rubczak.
“The world around us is fascinating. The world of art is thrilling. How do we share our fascinations and passions with babies and their close adults in the field of art that is satisfying also for us – creators?”
During this intensive three-day Artist Lab with Polish Early Years Theatre artists Alicja Morawska-Rubczak (director) and Barbara Małecka (set designer and costume maker), we will try to answer this question in practice.
The aim of this workshop is to explore the creative process of Early Years Theatre creation; how to initiate the creative process, including choosing of the topic, aesthetics, and methods of communication. There will be time and space for discussion and testing the ideas.
The Lab will be based on theatre pedagogy methods, using theatrical methods and activities around the proposed theme, focusing on developing emotional skills of self-expression, self-realization, and teamwork, combined with the practical activities of visual artist, set designer and children’s theatre director. The Lab is open to all professionals interested in work for early years audiences, including actors, performers, musicians, puppeteers, educators, theatre pedagogues, dancers, and anyone else who wants to use theatre to communicate with our youngest ones.
Barbara Małecka: Barbara is a theatrologist, producer of artistic events, & author of set design for performances for the youngest.
Alicja Morawska-Rubczak: Alicja is a director & theatre pedagogue, specializing in theatre and dance for children under three years of age.
