Arts & Business Scotland: Fair Work Business Briefing

Closing date: Wed 29 Jun 2022: 12am

Learn about the Scottish Government’s Fair Work Program, what this involves and what it means for your organisation.

The Covid pandemic has not only fundamentally changed the way we work, but also shed a bright light on various employment issues and systemic inequalities, highlighting the importance and need for re-imaging and re-orienting our workplaces as we emerge, recover & renew.

The Scottish Government and other funders, in response to the employment implications of the pandemic, are urging all sectors to take action now by adopting innovative, holistic and person-centred approaches to tackle these challenges and invest in the future of work that is fairer, more inclusive, ethical and sustainable.

Fair Work First is the Scottish Government’s flagship policy for driving high quality and fair work across the labour market in Scotland by applying fair work criteria to grants, other funding and contracts being awarded by and across the public sector. It requires employers to go beyond statutory employment rights and protections and adopt fair work practices within their organisations that are designed around the five key elements:
– effective voice
– fulfilment
– opportunity
– respect
– security

In this session, Barry Nichol and Rohini Shah from the Employment, Immigration and Pension team of Anderson Strathern solicitors will explore the Scottish Government’s Fair Work Program, what this involves and what it means for your organisation.

This guidance is intended and applicable to all private, public or third sector organisations who are involved in awarding public sector grants, other funding and public contracts as well as those who receive funding through public sector grants, sponsorship arrangements with the Scottish Government and/or are involved in the delivery of contracts.
