As Treasurer, you will play a vital role in supporting the financial governance of Firefly Arts, helping ensure the sustainability of their transformative work with young people.

Role: financial health, governance, and compliance
Location: Livingston, West Lothian
Fee: Voluntary but travel expenses will be reimbursed

Key Responsibilities
Oversee Firefly’s financial health and ensure compliance with charity law and financial regulations.
Contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation and protect its financial stability.
Ensure financial resources are applied exclusively to Firefly’s charitable objectives.
Provide financial reports and support the Board in interpreting financial data.
Oversee the production of an annual budget and its adoption.
Lead in appointing and liaising with auditors/independent examiners.
Ensure that robust financial procedures are in place, including for payments, payroll and Gift Aid.

Activities
Regularly report on Firefly’s financial position at Board meetings. Work with staff, board members, and volunteers to ensure financial viability.
Provide financial oversight on plans and proposals, contributing to Firefly’s fundraising strategy.
Ensure that Firefly complies with its financial obligations, including regulatory and reporting requirements.

Desired Skills & Experience
Good organisational skills and excellent numerical skills.
Knowledge of charity finance and understanding of financial governance and legal obligations.
Commitment to Firefly’s mission and values.
Strategic vision, good judgement and willingness to contribute actively to Board decisions.
Financial qualifications and experience (desirable).
Experience in charity finance, fundraising, and pension schemes (desirable).
