Clifftop Projects: Youth Arts Officer

Clifftop Projects are looking for a Youth Arts Officer to help support the youth aspects of their programme. The role will be 16-20 hours a week paid at £12.60 an hour and based in Dumbarton.

The Youth Arts Officer role will work with four main aspects of our programme:
YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD – a group of young people (age 15-25) who help us ensure we hear youth voices to help write
policy and plan events.
ART HUB – we hand out 120 art packs each week outside three primary schools in Dumbarton.
YOUTH CREATIVE NIGHTS – monthly creative sessions for
S1-25 year olds
FAMILY ART CLUBS – previously our Art Discoverers, Explorers & Adventurers but now including work with young people’s carers & early years siblings.

Location – Clifftop Projects office & The Phoenix, both in Castlehill Dumbarton
Hours of work – 16-20 hours a week to de decided in partnership with Artistic Director (Lottie Barker)
Salary – £12.60 an hour plus 3% pension contributions. One year contract with the possibility of another two year extension. 

The role would suit an early career artist or youth worker looking for a job with a variety of opportunities to engage with young people in different settings. The successful applicant will also received tailored training to help them gain the most they can from the job.

Duties
YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD – book the venue, decide the agenda (in collaboration with Lottie) & attend meetings.
ART HUB – order materials, pack up supplies, message freelance team & hand out supplies at weekly sessions.
YOUTH CREATIVE NIGHTS – book the venue, decide activities (in collaboration with Lottie) & attend sessions.
FAMILY ART CLUBS – assist at weekly sessions for P1-3, P4-7 & S1-4.

Essentials for Applicant
– Able to communicate with young people
– Able to multi-task
– Awareness of the importance of safeguarding young people (we will provide additional training)
– Able to work within a team
– High level of enthusiasm, reliability and problem-solving

Desirable (but not essential)
– Understanding of lived experiences of young people living in areas of deprivation
– Previous experience in a youth work setting
– Training in first aid or mental health first aid
