Emerging Leaders is an intensive course providing the essential skills and tools required by cultural leaders in the early stages of their careers. Grounded in experiential learning and rich with real-life examples shared by experts from across the cultural and corporate sectors, Emerging Leaders provides professional and personal development for individuals who want to lead and make an impact within the cultural sector.
→ Why choose Emerging Leaders?
Emerging Leaders has been designed for individuals at an early stage in their career who aspire to lead. Typically Emerging Leaders course participants will have between two – five years experience in the cultural sector and will have had some experience of managing projects or people, are perhaps looking to take on an enhanced role and need to acquire new skills to be successful and have undertaken some sector relevant skills development training.

There are two Emerging Leaders courses for Winter 2022/ 23 – Ashorne Hill (near Leamington Spa)
• 28 November – 2 December 2022
• 27 February – 3 March 2023
→ Eligibility
Applicants to Emerging Leaders need to be able to demonstrate the following:
• two – five years experience in the cultural sector with some experience of initiating and/or managing projects and people
• An ambition to lead, a sense of purpose and vision
• A desire to better understand leadership
• Self-awareness, reflective skills and an openness to learning
• A commitment to and passion for the cultural sector
• Curiosity and desire to learn about the wider context of culture
→ Creative Scotland Bursaries
Bursaries are available for arts and culture professionals based in Scotland. Creative Scotland particularly welcomes applications from Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority and D/deaf, disabled or neuro-divergent candidates in recognition of the current under-representation in leadership positions. Applicants must live and work in Scotland within a cultural discipline supported by Creative Scotland.
