Company of Wolves: Labs 2024

Pay: £130 per day
Closing date: Fri 3 May 2024: 5pm

A paid advanced training and development opportunity for Scotland-based professional theatre-makers to work in depth with Company of Wolves.

Labs forms part of Company of Wolves’ ongoing research into ancient performance practices. In the ancient Greek theatre, dance, song, scene and story were interwoven. Body and voice were not thought of as separate.

During this Lab they’ll introduce participants to our core training practices, moving from listening and mindfulness into embodiment and play, integrating voice, movement and word. They will work together to explore the rich imaginative world of an ancient play.

Towards the end of the week we’ll be joined by Dr Michael Carroll from the School of Classics at University of St Andrews who will illuminate the sociocultural and artistic contexts of ancient Greek theatre practice.

They’re looking for people who are willing to dive into exploration. The work requires openness, curiosity, commitment and a good level of fitness. They’re particularly interested to hear from people from backgrounds under-represented in the Scottish arts.

To apply you must be a theatre practitioner with at least two years of professional experience. You do not need to be a performer, but must be willing to work with your body and voice.

This is a paid opportunity and they offer a fee of £130 per day per person (£520 for the four days). The workshops run 20 – 23 May 2024 and the application deadline is 3 May 2024. Capacity is limited to eight people. Participants must be able to attend all four days.
