Creative Lives: Microgrants for Volunteer-led Creative Groups

Closing date: Mon 31 Oct 2022: 11pm

£300 grants available to help voluntary/community-based creative groups ‘Keep On Creating’.

This winter will prove challenging for many people, with increased costs making it hard for some creative groups to keep going. Yet the need for them will be more important than ever, as people look for opportunities to get together with others, find a way to express themselves, boost their mental and physical wellbeing, have fun and – in some cases – stay warm and access food and equipment.

Thanks to the Scottish Community Alliance’s ‘Pockets & Prospects’ programme, Creative Lives has 18 microgrants of £300 to give to volunteer-run creative groups in Scotland this winter. The ‘Keep On Creating’ microgrants are open to any group in Scotland that takes part in creative activities (of any kind) and is:

1) Run predominantly by volunteers
2) Based in an area experiencing deprivation or whose participants face additional challenges

A few examples of how groups might choose to spend their microgrant include:

– To put towards gas and electricity charges in their venues/meet-up locations
– To provide some form of catering for group participants to consume whilst at the group
– To cover the costs of arts/crafts materials for those unable to afford them
– To cover transport costs to enable people to reach their creative group who might otherwise struggle to attend
– To offer free places to group members who might otherwise be unable to attend
