The Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival is looking for new dynamic, enthusiastic and committed trustees who would like to support the further development of their organisation.
Their vision is to create in our region the most vibrant and thriving rural cultural scene in Scotland, presenting high quality programmes of performing arts events, participation and development throughout each year across one of our country’s largest geographic areas.
Through the theatre, music, dance, film, comedy and spoken word performances and participation they organise and promote, they inspire and connect audiences and participants throughout Dumfries & Galloway with local and national artists’ work. They stimulate meaningful community participation and engagement, and they celebrate the transformative power of the arts. Through their programmes and activities, they also support, nurture and help develop the creative quality, ambition, innovation and skills of performing arts practitioners who live and work in the region.
They are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic and committed people who would like to add their knowledge and expertise to the wealth of experience and perspectives their current group of trustees offer the organisation and its governance.
If their vision and the work they create and deliver interest you and you would like to help us achieve their aims, they would like to hear from you. You do not have to have had previous experience serving on a board of directors. As well as a comprehensive induction, they provide on-going support and mentorship, if required.
Typically, our trustees meet four times per annum – usually combining face-to-face and online attendance – as well as a one-day board development opportunity once each year. You do not have to live in Dumfries to apply, although some meaningful connection with the region, or with some aspect of Scotland’s cultural sector, would be beneficial.
This is a voluntary role, trustees do not receive any remuneration, but they cover all out-of-pocket expenses, such as travel and childcare.
