East Ayrshire Leisure: Youth Theatre Assistant Director

East Ayrshire Youth Theatre (EAYT) is looking for a highly motivated and creative Youth Theatre Assistant to help support the development and delivery of the Palace Theatre’s Youth Theatre programme. EAYT pride themselves in giving young people the chance to thrive in a professional theatre environment through the medium of Musical Theatre.

East Ayrshire Youth Theatre Assistant (Freelance)
Ten hours per week during term time plus 50 hours per production (two per year – November and April)
Fee – £12 per hour

This post would suit an arts practitioner with a background of working with young people within a musical theatre environment. The successful candidate will support the Youth Theatre Director to develop EAYT and consequently requires a highly organised, determined and engaging practitioner with the skills to assist and collaborate in weekly youth theatre sessions and musical theatre productions. The successful candidate should be able to contribute to the growth of EAYT as it expands.

The successful candidate will have experience of working within a youth theatre setting, or similar; a track record in working within the arts, assisting in productions, and working within a dynamic team. They will have experience of working with young people of all ages and be confident in dealing with the challenges young people face and can present. The successful candidate will have strong administration skills, and be able to support the work of the Youth Theatre Director in the efficient running of EAYT.

Due to the nature of the work this post requires regular evening and weekend work during term time and additional commitment to work on ad-hoc events/projects that EAYT is invited to be part of.

You must be available every Wednesday from the 7 September 2022 – 3 November 2022 at 4.30pm – 9pm. The term will then restart in 18 January 2023 – 13 April 2023.

The shows will be on the weeks beginning:
7 November 2022 – 12 November 2022.
18 April 2023 – 23 April 2023

There will be full day rehearsals the week before the show week (10 April 2023 – 16 April 2023).
