Four artist commissions to create four new performances for and with four local communities across the Highlands in response to themes that arise through community consultation.
In On The Act is a new creative project taking place in four locations across the Highlands. It is a community-led project that aims to initiate creative conversations with people from each area, exploring their stories and aspirations for these communities. These conversations will be led by Eden Court’s Engagement facilitators in conjunction with a Community Partner in each area.
The four confirmed Community Partners are:
LAIRG AND SUTHERLAND – Lairg and District Learning Centre
BALMACARA – Balmacara Community Trust
MORVERN PENINSULA – Aukje Delnooz and Veronique Walraven
SKYE – Seall
They are looking for four professional artists to join and engage with these creative conversations and then create a commissioned performance in response to the themes that arise. For example, this could be a solo piece of drama, a community choral piece, a new piece of music or a dance performance for local young people. It will depend on the desires of the respective artists and the communities involved as well as the practicalities of achieving this in the different locations and on the budget available.
Local people will be invited to engage with the development process through work-in-progress sharings prior to a final performance in each area.
In On The Act is funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.
Fee
£8,500 – £2,500 for community engagement (based on ten days) + £6,000 commission fee (for approx. 30 mins)
