The Edinburgh International Festival, in partnership with Imaginate and Puppet Animation Scotland, are offering Scottish based artists who work in visual and physical theatre and/or make work for children and young people the opportunity to come together to see a performance of Dimanche ( Focus Company / Chaliwaté Company) and participate in a practice-enriching workshop with the company.
The performance and workshop will be on 16 August 2023, and will be a great opportunity to playfully explore the practice of the company, and the process that inspired the creation of Dimanche. The workshop will be in central Edinburgh from 12 noon – 3pm and the performance is at 7pm at the Churchill Theatre (1hr 15min duration). The time in between is yours with no activity planned.
The opportunity is offered free to all participants and there are limited number of places available. Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis and they are looking for professional artists based in Scotland with a passion and practice in making theatre and dance performances for children and young people or those who work in visual theatre, puppetry, or physical theatre to apply. They are open to hearing from people with all levels of experience, the workshop will focus on the theatre making process of the company, but anyone who feels this might enrich their practice is welcome to apply including performers, designers, and directors.
To apply for a place email engage@eif.co.uk to tell them a bit about yourself and your practice and a short paragraph to outline why you would be interested in taking part, and how the opportunity might enrich your practice. They also welcome applications by video if this is preferable for you.
They will also provide a light lunch so do let us know any dietary requirements you may have, and if you have any access or additional requirements we can support with including travel.
