Framework Theatre Company are looking for six emerging writers who live/work in Scotland to create short (10 minute) pieces of writing that will be showcased at a live-streamed event this autumn.
The only criteria for these pieces is that they are inspired by iconic Scottish stories and storytellers. This could mean a re-telling of an old story from a fresh perspective, writing in the style of an iconic storyteller or a response to a story/storytellers.
About the Project
‘___after___’ will be a night of short performances written, directed and performed by emerging artists who are Scottish or Scotland-based. The rehearsals and performances will take place on one day in-person, delivered via livestreaming to audiences. This event has been supported by the Year of Stories 2022 Community Stories Fund. This fund is being delivered in partnership between VisitScotland and Museums Galleries Scotland with support from National Lottery Heritage Fund thanks to National Lottery players.
To Apply
All they need from you is a pitch of your idea plus a short statement about you and your practice. This should be no longer than 400 words or alternatively maximum four minute audio/video submission and can be emailed to Jennifer Galt at hello@frameworktheatre.com by 5pm, 5 August 2022.
The successful applicants will then be given time to develop their script before teaming up with directors and casting performers. They encourage writers from all over Scotland to apply to this opportunity as this portion of the project will be remote. Because of the briefness of the final pieces, we suggest pitching a piece that may only use one or two performers.
The fee for this role is £150.
