Framework Theatre Company are commissioning four emerging playwrights who are women, non-binary people & people from other marginalised genders to write a 15 minute play on the theme Louder, to be performed at the Traverse in May 2024.
This project is the sequel to Home, their 2021 project delivered in association with Vanishing Point. They are seeking four emerging playwrights who are women, non-binary people and people from other marginalised genders. Self-definition is at the sole discretion of those individuals.
This series of work is specifically designed to support emerging writers of marginalised genders (women, non-binary, trans or another marginalised gender) to take the next step in their careers. Inspired by the Stellar Quines Where Are the Women report series, and the gender pay gap of 37% detailed in The Big Freelancer Report 2023, we aim to provide high quality, paid opportunities for emerging writers who are often underrepresented.
As such, they are seeking four emerging playwrights to create a new 15 minute piece of writing inspired by the theme Louder. The selected writers will receive mentorship from Jackie Crichton (Royal Lyceum Theatre). The work will then be directed, produced and performed by emerging theatre-makers, in a showcase at the Traverse Theatre.
This project is presented with support from Vanishing Point Theatre Company, the Royal Lyceum Theatre and Stellar Quines. Louder: A Project for New Writers is funded by the National Lottery via Creative Scotland.
Deadline: 12pm (noon), Thu 25 January 2024.
Fee: £1200
