Framework Theatre Company are looking for three pre-existing 15 minute script excerpts that might benefit from a script-in-hand reading at Framework Festival 2026.
Framework Theatre Company is thrilled to present Framework Festival 2026. Now in its sixth year, Framework Festival aims to provide a regular offering of support to all emerging theatre makers in Scotland. It provides time, space, and knowledge to artists and facilitates connections across the sector.
This year’s Framework Festival will be a day of panels, workshops, and new writing in Glasgow on Fri 26 June 2026. It will culminate in a presentation of script readings. As part of this, they are looking for three pre-existing 15 minute script excerpts that might benefit from a script-in-hand reading in front of an audience of peers.
These scripts can be excerpts of longer works or stand-alone short plays, and they should require one, two or three performers. The selected scripts will receive support from Framework Theatre to produce them in a script-in-hand reading. Each script will be paired with an emerging director and a cast of emerging actors to support the reading.
This reading is for any emerging or early-career writer who has a script that would benefit from meeting an audience. Unlike most Framework roles, this is not restricted by their level system. This opportunity is for writers at all stages of early-career.
What do you get?
Framework Theatre will pair you with a team of early-career performers and a director to present a script-in-hand, minimally staged, reading of your script excerpt. The team will have two hours to rehearse on the day, before presenting it alongside two other pieces at Framework Festival to an audience of peers. You will have the opportunity to ask the audience two key questions about the work. This feedback will be sent to you after the event to inform the future development of your script.
Commitment:
The provision of a 15minute pre-existing script excerpt (approx. 12-15 pages).
Attendance for one day in Glasgow on 26 June 2026.
Fee: £150 (Access & Travel support provided)
