Genesis Theatre Productions Ltd have an opportunity for an experienced, creative and enthusiastic individual to join the team on the Scottish tour of a new important play, Men Don’t Talk by Clare Prenton. It will tour to small-scale theatres, arts centres and community spaces across Scotland for audiences aged 14+. This is a freelance role.
This project holds participation at its heart. Creating a safe space for discussion and exploration of the issues, they hope to create a genuine and lasting connection between Scottish communities which aims to educate and raise awareness of men’s mental health and the support available.
They are looking to connect with and facilitate informal discussions around the play within the touring communities and in doing so the work aims to offer a creative and cultural contribution to the ongoing work in heath and wellbeing and male suicide prevention. They would love to work with someone who is passionate about the themes of the play to help shape this exciting programme.
The role will work with them during pre-production phase of the tour and there may be some facilitation required where appropriate throughout the tour as appropriate. Flexibility and an ability to problem-solve is essential for this exciting and educational production and they are seeking someone who enjoys working collaboratively.
Fee & terms:
• A fee of £3,000 (approx 20 days work at £150 per day over the duration of the contract)
• Transport is provided, as is all accommodation and travel on tour if you are attending any of the activities agreed in advance.
• Per diems for any overnight stays
• There is a small access budget if required
Dates / Availability:
The role will start immediately in order to provide a long lead in time. They will work around availability of the successful applicant.
They have approximately 11 venues on tour. While they will offer something to each venue, they do not expect that all venues will take up the offer and are aiming for six venues.
Key production dates below:
• Rehearsals & Tech week: Mon 30 September – Sun 20 October 2024
• Touring weeks (spring): Mon 21 October – Sat 23 November 2024
