This fund offers support for creative freelancers working in the arts, screen and creative sectors in Scotland who are experiencing immediate financial hardship due to the loss of income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For this latest round, as well as supporting new applicants, previous recipients of the fund who have been awarded funding can also apply again for a further award of up to £2k.
→ Who is the fund for
This fund is for creative freelancers working in the arts, screen and creative sectors in Scotland. The fund offers a one-off award to those who are most deeply impacted and disadvantaged by the cancellation of activity because of the current emergency situation.
→ Budget and how much can be applied for
Following feedback from the sector, Creative Scotland, with Scottish Government, took the decision to close the Cancellation Fund for Creative Freelancers on 23 January 2022, and allocate the remaining funds to this new round of the Hardship Fund for Creative Freelancers. £8m has been allocated to support this fund – this will be delivered in two tranches. Anyone applying can ask for between £500 and £2,000 in support.

→ Decisions
The funds are offered on a non-competitive basis and require you to submit minimal information to enable us to make awards as quickly as possible. They will aim to ensure that all eligible recipients will receive money in their account within six weeks of submission of your request. If there are any delays to this, they’ll let you know.
