Are you an artist or freelancer based in Scotland who is involved, or would like to be involved, in the process of making, producing and presenting theatre and dance for young audiences?
Imaginate have three funded places open to artists and freelancers based in Scotland to attend EXPORT/IMPORT Festival in Brussels with a group of artists and Imaginate staff. This is a four-day visit, from Friday 7 to Monday 10 November 2025. They plan a creative development visit to an international festival every year, as we know how valuable it is to see productions, meet international peers and get to know new people from Scotland.
EXPORT/IMPORT is a biennial Festival for young audiences programmed by BRONKS Theatre for Young Audiences and La Montagne Magique. The 2025 programme isn’t online yet but you can access the 2023 information here as a guide.
Each selected freelancer will receive:
- A fee of £550
- £160 per diems (£40 per day x 4 days)
Imaginate will:
- Book and pay for all festival tickets for performances and any delegate meals or festival social events
- Book and pay for return train travel from home base in Scotland to Brussels
- Book and pay for all accommodation in Brussels – everyone will have their own room at Meininger Hotel Brussels City Centre
This call out is open to freelancers based in Scotland who work in the young audiences sector including those who make theatre and dance, producers, designers and production staff. There are three funded places available, and priority will be given to those who have not visited an international festival with Imaginate before. The selection panel will consist of Imaginate staff and Dorine Mugisha, a freelance dance artist who came to EXPORT/IMPORT in November 2023 through a similar call-out.
If you have any questions about this opportunity and would like to talk to us before applying, you can email applications@imaginate.org.uk or call 0131 225 8050.
Deadline: Mon 18 August 2025, midnight. The panel will meet on Tue 26 August 2025, and you will hear if you have been selected or not by Friday 5 September 2025.
