Imaginate: Festival Family Encounters Commission 2023

Closing date: Sun 30 Oct 2022: 11pm

Imaginate are inviting proposals from artists based in Scotland for two new large scale performances for the 2023 Edinburgh International Children’s Festival.

The Edinburgh International Children’s Festival will open with Family Encounters, a day of free pop-up performances for families in the National Museum of Scotland on Sat 27 May 2023. They are inviting proposals from artists based in Scotland to make two new large-scale performance pieces for this event, one of which will also perform at Merchant City Festival in July.

These commissions are a partnership between Imaginate, Glasgow Life and the National Museum of Scotland to encourage the creation of new work for children aged 10 and under, and their families. In particular, we would like to support artists to experiment with a new performance idea for public spaces. They are especially keen to work with underrepresented artists and performances that are inclusive for all our audiences.
