Three opportunities for new commissions of theatre/dance performances for children and families as part of the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival Family Encounters programme.
The 2024 Edinburgh International Children’s Festival will open with Family Encounters, a day of free pop-up performances for families in the National Museum of Scotland on Sat 25 May 2024.
These commissions are open for application from artists, companies and freelancers based in Scotland, to encourage the creation of new work for children aged between 0-11 years, and their families. They would like to support artists to experiment with new performance ideas suitable for busy public spaces. They are especially keen to work with underrepresented artists and performances that are inclusive for all our audiences.
The commissions are:
1 x Imaginate and Glasgow Life Commission – this performance will go on to perform at Glasgow’s Merchant City Festival
2 x Creative Encounters Commissions – these performances will be co-created with children as part of the Creative Encounters project, and will also perform at the North Edinburgh Community Festival
