Impact Arts (Projects) Ltd: Creative Lead – Project Drag

Impact Arts are hiring a Creative Lead to deliver exciting workshops to LGBTQ+ young people aged 16+ attending Project Drag in partnership with LGBT Youth Scotland, funded by YouthLink.

Project Drag is an exciting programme of multi art form sessions that will engage LGBTQ+ young people (YP) with a wide range of creative activities associated with drag culture. The project will end with a celebration exhibition at the Youth Hub at Strathclyde Union on Sat 20 July 2024 as part of Glasgow Pride.

Sessions will be designed as tasters to allow the young people to dip in and out as well as to remain for the duration, building their knowledge over time.

Each session you will work alongside a Creative Assistant and a Youth Worker from the LGBT Youth Scotland (LGBTYS) team. A photographer will work with you to create final artworks towards the end of the programme, led by the young people and giving them an artwork to takeaway and some legacy for the project.

Rate of pay: Sessional rate of of £25.73 p.h. + prep time at £15.11 p.h.
Based at: The Boardwalk, 105 Brunswick Street, Glasgow, G1 1TF.
Reporting to: Amanda Munro, Programme Manager & Emily Milne, Programme Coordinator – Impact Arts
Duration of contract: A project meeting with Impact Arts and LGBT Youth Scotland teams will take place prior to start date.

Timetable
1 April – 15 July 2024 / 15 weeks total contracted time
Mon 8 April Prep time (suggested week it takes place)
Mon 15 April First workshop
Mon 15 July Final session
Attendance at Mardi Gla celebration on Sat 20 July 2024 TBC

Working Hours: Mondays inc bank holidays
5.30pm – 6pm set / 6pm – 8pm workshop / 8pm – 8.30pm clear
Plus 11 hours towards prep & evaluation

Travel: Please note that no travel expenses will be claimable.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential –
• Relevant qualifications/experience with a specific creative/technical industry is desirable
• SCQF level 8 in a relevant arts discipline
• At least 1 year of experience delivering creative activity to young people in community settings
• Experience of performing as a Drag Artist to audiences

Technical Skills & Knowledge –
Experience of any of the following as a performing Drag Artist:
• theatrical makeup and hair including working with wigs
• costume design / outfit modification
• movement/ basic dance choreography
• voice work / projection
